What is unique about your business?
We distribute the first made-in-Japan Halal certified skincare products featuring peach moisturizing extracts in Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and other countries.
As a business owner, what are your top three priorities?
- Increase brand awareness.
- Focus on quality products.
- Produce Halal products in ethical ways.
Is this where you thought you would end up?
We started our business in Japan, aiming to expand to Southeast Asian countries, so now we continue to strive for it.
What’s one thing you see small business owners failing to do?
We are a family business, so sometimes need opinions from third parties.
How long have you been a Servcorp client, and what has impressed you the most about our service?
We know Servcorp Japan and when expanding to Malaysia, we just come up with an idea to contract with them as a start-up company in Malaysia about 4 years ago.
What has been the biggest benefit you’ve experienced as a result of working with Servcorp?
Due to limited workforce and difficulties in finding the best person to hire a full-time staff, we had a good judge to contract with Servcorp, as their staff is really nice and helpful to respond to all our needs.
How do you balance work and life responsibilities?
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are forced to stay in Japan without flying to overseas countries, so we try to participate in online exhibitions or business matching opportunities, which is sometimes difficult to balance work and life.
If you had to start over from scratch, knowing what you know now, what would you do differently?
We wish we could stay in one of the south-east Asian countries and more focus on the promotion of our products.
Who are the leaders that inspire you and why?
My grandfather started his fruit/vegetable retailing business more than 90 years ago and now my father runs the same business with my mother. They are my inspiration to maintain and develop our own business.
If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
It often takes time to grow a small business, but continuation is the key to success, so please do not give up!
